I live on the Chesapeake Bay near Annapolis, Maryland. It seems I just can’t get enough of the beauty here and in particular full moons and sunrises. This week’s full moon was extraordinarily beautiful and large.
I took this shot using my iPhone camera. Sometimes having an ordinary camera creates something extraordinary. Like two moons! The moonlight on the water appears like a path into the darkness between the horizon and the night sky, leading up to the moon. What appears as a companion is actually the reflection of the moon in the glass of my window. So this photo contains two reflections, a kind of trompe d’oeil.
I still couldn’t get enough of the moon so for a closer look I went to my telescope. Here in
the lens is reflected the moon and its halo against sheer black, brilliant and glowing in that darkness. I find something so ethereal and mystical about this image.
For this week’s Photo Challenge: Reflections it just seemed right to submit the reflection of the full moon with it’s glow and twin. Let me know what you think in the comments below.
